I cannot ride the L'il Suzy for more than 30-45 minutes at a time without stopping for a "butt break." However, I feel very strongly that the reason for this is the lack of a windshield more than the seat contours. Since my Rebel is DOA I'm going to buy a new (used?) bike but it will be comparable in size and weight to the Savage, if not a Savage outright. I love the way it handles, even in windy conditions. But I'm damned sure going to put a windshield on it!
Hubby and I rode to Little Sturgis from the Gulf Coast in pelting rain/wind, at night (he was on Dad's big GS750T, I was on the Savage) and I made it - 6-7 hour trip - but my lower back and butt were really hurting. I'm convinced it was the lack of windshield. As for the windy conditions, yes, it swayed when a semi whooshed by me (and I got drowned, too) but I never felt like I was in danger of losing control of the bike. Unlike WD, who sprung an oil leak (Dad forgot to tell us he had taken the tach loose from the engine, big hole there for oil to spurt out of, DUH!!!) and WD was sliding all over the place. That was truly a trip to remember....
Buy a windshield, keep the Savage, get used to the way it sits. I wouldn't give up its handling for anything!

PS: WD says "The full fairing on the GS750T let me blow around quite a bit when the trucks went by as well. I think for normal riding I would prefer a standard police-style windshield vs. the fairing that is available for the Savage. If you're interested in a full fairing, sport fairing or even a regular ole' windshield, I highly recommend you check out Rifle. Their web address is www.rifle.com. "
